Paola De Giovanni

Italian designer Paola De Giovanni after gaining a Baccalaureate in Modern Languages and History of Art, moved to the UK in 1996 to attend the BA-Hons in Design Studies at the University of Salford. After graduation she moved down to London and worked in a Chelsea art gallery in her gap year before joining the prestigious Master Degree course in Fashion History at the London College of Fashion. Reading history of fashion opened up an endless and exciting source of inspiration.



The designer’s artwork/photographs (many are available digitally printed on canvas), are aimed at art collectors/design conscious buyers who look for an appropriate artwork to complement their homes’ interiors.



“Part of my creative research originates from huge collages: I often digitally re-work portions of these boards by using Adobe Photoshop. From this initial visual research I extrapolate many patterns and ideas for printed textiles and artwork. My sources of inspirations are various, among them the colour photographs I take while I am outdoor walking in the countryside, details of architecture and paintings from the old tradition.”



Speaking about herself Paola says: ”As a little girl I became aware of fabrics, printed patterns and clothes, as my Mother is a well respected stylist. However it is not easy to box me in a creative category: my creative output is not limited to textiles. I apply my creativity in various areas: I am currently developing a series of digitally printed artwork which will be promoted through carefully selected online galleries.”
